This year's Carbon Budget published

The annual update on the global carbon budget, which is led by the Global Carbon Project (https://www.globalcarbonproject.org) is published (https://doi.org/10.5194/essd-15-5301-2023). The analysis shows that global carbon emissions from fossil fuels have risen again in 2023 – reaching record levels, fossil carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions are projected to reach 36.8 billion tonnes in 2023, up 1.1% from 2022. Our team has again this year contributed with LPJ-GUESS simulations to these regular updates.
